Softball Recap: Orange Cove Beats Summit Charter Collegiate Academy for Their Ninth Straight Victory

Orange Cove had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.4 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Tuesday. They blew past the Summit Charter Collegiate Academy Bears 13-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 back in April.

Daisy Regalado was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Orange Cove got a massive performance out of Kendra Talingo, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Talingo has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Danika Del Bosque, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Orange Cove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Orange Cove pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Summit Charter Collegiate Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.
