Baseball Recap: Winfield Comes Up Short

Winfield extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-8 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Warrenton. Winfield was not able to make up for their defeat to Warrenton from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

DJ Barth was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Warren Conrad also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

As for Warrenton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games.

On Warrenton's side, the team relied heavily on Austin Haas, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Haas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

While Winfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
