Baseball Game Preview: Grace Academy Lions vs. Charlotte S Stampede

The Grace Academy Lions will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Charlotte S Stampede at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Grace Academy is headed into their home opener looking to turn things around after starting their season on the road. They fell 5-1 to Metrolina Christian Academy on Monday. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak dating back to last season.

Grace Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Seth Stanton, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Charlotte S took care of business in their home opener on Wednesday. They came out on top against Christ the King by a score of 6-3.

Tim Barry made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tommy Shaw was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Noah Wilhoit, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Grace Academy suffered a grim 19-0 defeat to Charlotte S in their previous matchup back in March of 2021. Can Grace Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
