Basketball Game Preview: Mills Vikings vs. Oceana Sharks

The Mills Vikings will head out to challenge the Oceana Sharks at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Wednesday, Mills came up short against San Mateo and fell 55-42. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1025th, while the Bearcats are ranked 295th).

Meanwhile, Oceana played a tough game on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Aragon 79-49. The Sharks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-19.

Mills' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-11. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points per game. As for Oceana, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.

Mills came up short against Oceana in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 45-41. Can Mills avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
