Football Game Preview: Yorktown Wildcats vs. Shiner Comanches

Yorktown hasn't had much luck against Shiner recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will head out to challenge the Comanches at 7:00 p.m. Yorktown has given up an average of 26.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Yorktown is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Falls City on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Wildcats were outmatched by the Beavers and fell 49-22. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since August 30, 2024.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Brody Metting, who threw for 180 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 39 yards and one score. McKenzie Yanta helped out on the ground, rushing for 81 yards.

Meanwhile, Shiner strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They really took it to Louise for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-6 win. Considering the Comanches have won six contests by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Yorktown's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Shiner, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.

Yorktown was dealt a bruising 54-13 loss at the hands of Shiner in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Wildcats were down 41-6.
