Basketball Game Preview: Keene Chargers vs. Palmer Bulldogs

The Keene Chargers will face off against the Palmer Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Keene will head into Friday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 34-point drubbing they dealt Rice on Friday. Keene claimed a resounding 72-38 victory over Rice. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 22 points or more this season.

Palmer got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They came out on top against Rice by a score of 43-35 on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 13-13 at the break, but Palmer was the better team in the second half.

Palmer found their leader in sophomore Reagan Davis, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 18 points along with five boards and three steals. Davis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexey Maxwell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.

Palmer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They are 8-15 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Keene has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Palmer, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-18.

Keene didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Palmer when the teams last played back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 45-40 victory. Will Keene repeat their success, or does Palmer have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
