Softball Game Preview: Cinnaminson Pirates vs. Delran Bears

The Cinnaminson Pirates will head out to face off against the Delran Bears at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Cinnaminson's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Delran's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Cinnaminson gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over Holy Cross. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Meanwhile, Delran sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Moorestown on Monday.

Olivia Powell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gemma DeJoseph was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elaina Faux, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Cinnaminson pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Delran, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.

Cinnaminson was able to grind out a solid win over Delran in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
