Basketball Recap: Murphy Takes a Loss

Murphy came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They had to suffer through an 81-14 loss at the hands of the Cherokee Braves. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Braves recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Aaliyah Rogers was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 18 points and nine steals for Cherokee. Rogers continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Cecily 'Dvdaya' Swimmer was another key player, going 6-for-9 en route to 14 points and four steals.

Murphy's loss dropped their record down to 11-16. As for Cherokee, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season.

Murphy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cherokee, they are taking a road trip to challenge Hayesville at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Cherokee knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Hayesville likes a good challenge.
