Football Recap: Archbishop Carroll Lions vs. Roosevelt Roughriders
Archbishop Carroll had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took down the Roosevelt Roughriders 37-18 on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Roughriders: they've now won four in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Archbishop Carroll to victory, but perhaps none more so than Avery Glass, who threw for 189 yards and three touchdowns. What's more, Glass racked up 14 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Daquarn Tibbs was Glass' top target, picking up 109 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Archbishop Carroll was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 233 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Roosevelt only rushed for 62 rushing yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Archbishop Carroll's defense and their seven sacks. Amari James was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Archbishop Carroll got some further help from Jayden McNair: he picked up a sack, made ten total tackles (3.0 for loss), and defended one pass.
Despite the loss, Roosevelt still got an impressive performance from Johnathan Strickland, who threw for 194 yards and one TD, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground.
Looking ahead, Archbishop Carroll will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Friendship Collegiate Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Roosevelt, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Indian Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
