Softball Game Preview: Hampshire Regional Raiders vs. Clinton Gaels

The Hampshire Regional Raiders will face off against the Clinton Gaels on Wednesday. Hampshire Regional is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.

Hampshire Regional is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They never let Upper Cape Cod RVT get on the board and left with a 21-0 win. Considering the Raiders have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Ryanne Dubay1 made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caelyn Thayor, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalin Dubay4, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Hampshire Regional always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Clinton beat Bellingham 9-6 on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gaels.

Hampshire Regional's victory bumped their record up to 21-1. As for Clinton, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

Everything went Hampshire Regional's way against Clinton when the teams last played back in June of 2024, as Hampshire Regional made off with a 15-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
