Baseball Recap: Macon County Takes a Loss

Macon County suffered their closest defeat since April 2, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Greenbrier Bobcats by a score of 6-4. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Bobcats from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Macon County got a good showing from Landon Connor, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Connor hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Macon County saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gage Jones, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Another was Matthew Wheeley, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Macon County dropped their record down to 10-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Greenbrier, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season.

While Macon County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
