Preview: Horizon Hawks vs. Edgewater Eagles
Horizon is 0-1 against Edgewater since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Horizon Hawks will be playing at home against the Edgewater Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Horizon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 280th, while Edgewater is ranked eighth).
After soaring to 35 points the game before, Horizon were a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 60-2 loss at the hands of Wekiva. Horizon was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-0.
Meanwhile, Edgewater put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ocoee 46-0 at home. The result was nothing new for Edgewater, who have now won three contests by 27 points or more so far this season.
Horizon has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Edgewater, their victory was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday' match: Horizon has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 252.3 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Edgewater, though, as they've been averaging only 55.9 per game. How will Edgewater fare against such a dominant running game?
