Softball Recap: Carroll Comes Up Short

Carroll entered their match against Hamilton Southeastern on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Chargers took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Royals. The Chargers were not able to make up for their loss to the Royals from their previous meeting back in June of 2024.

Taylor Danley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kaelyn Kinsey was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Jaci Heath also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Carroll's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5-1. As for Hamilton Southeastern, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-6.

Coming up, Carroll will take on South Bend Saint Joseph at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Huskies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.27 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hamilton Southeastern, they will challenge Franklin Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
