Softball Recap: Ironton Extends Winning Streak to Three

Ironton waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 9-6 win over the Blazer Tomcats. That's two games straight that the Fighting Tigers have won by exactly three runs.

Khamil Martin was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-4. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Ryleigh Kouns was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Ironton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Ironton's record is now 8-1. As for Blazer, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ironton will square off against Chesapeake at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Blazer, they will challenge Lawrence County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
