League recap: Robinson extends winning streak with victory over Mexia

3A Region III District 17 recap October 1, 2013

Robinson extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region III District 17 this week by beating Mexia, 63-21. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.

La Vega moved up to 423 from 473 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Pirates were able to move up by besting Gatesville 37-36.

Lorena's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Harris Coleman threw for 188 and 3 touchdowns and Braydon Watson had 81 yards receiving. On the ground Adrian Rodriguez chipped in 160 yards. Andrew Marrero helped Lorena's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 59 yards.

He went 14-16 with 0 interception.

Coleman put up the best numbers in passing as the Leopards bested Groesbeck. Coleman's favorite target this week was Watson, who caught 4 passes for 81 yards.

Lorena's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Leopards feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Coleman has thrown for 585 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while Marrero has 11 catches for 208 yards. Coleman also leads the league in rushing with 741 yards.

Lorena took down the Goats 69-22 last week, the largest margin of any game. Coleman ran for 56 yards in the win.
