Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Big Spring). They enjoyed a cozy 64-49 win over the Wink Wildcats on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Steers.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Timothy Montoya, who posted 12 points. That's the most points Montoya has posted since back in December of 2024. Layne Lusby was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 16 points.
Big Spring's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-12. As for Wink, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-9 record this season.
Big Spring will square off against Lake View at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Big Spring has won three straight at home, while Lake View won six straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Wink, they will venture away from home to challenge McCamey at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
