Softball Recap: Holbrook Takes a Loss

Holbrook extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 11-14 in the process. They lost 19-3 to the Show Low Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 two weeks ago.

Holbrook saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tamryn Baldonado, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Show Low, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 14.3 runs.

On Show Low's side, Aspyn Clark made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Clark has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Show Low got a massive performance out of Ari Rivera, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Rivera has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Addisyn Clark, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Holbrook will head out to take on Snowflake at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The Roadrunners' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lobos have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season. As for Show Low, they will square off against Winslow at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
