Football Recap: Van Alstyne Takes a Tough Playoff Loss + How To Watch

Van Alstyne and Sunnyvale squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Van Alstyne had to settle for second. They fell 49-41 to Sunnyvale. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with Sunnyvale: they've now lost six in a row.

Van Alstyne's loss came despite strong showings from Brayden Miller and Xavier Vidaurri. Miller rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns, while Vidaurri rushed for 145 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.1 yards per carry.

Sunnyvale was led to victory by Cayson Maupin and Jaden Cross. Maupin rushed for 107 yards and three scores on only 15 carries, while Cross gained 165 total yards and two touchdowns. Cross' longest rush was for an impressive 67 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Van Alstyne's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Sunnyvale, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1.

As of now, neither Van Alstyne nor Sunnyvale have any future games scheduled.
