It's playoff time, and Sarasota had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the George Jenkins Eagles on Thursday. The Sailors haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Jack Mohrmann looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, Johnny Lackaff was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Flores, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run.
Sarasota's record now sits at 22-6-1. As for George Jenkins, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-10.
As of now, neither Sarasota nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
