Basketball Recap: Yavneh Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Brendy Eber and Darren Sacher

After a string of three wins, Yavneh Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They lost to the Chisholm Trail Academy Blazers on the road by a 63-47 margin. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blazers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Yavneh Academy had strong showings from Darren Sacher, who posted 18 points and eight boards, and Brendy Eber, who earned ten points and six rebounds. Eber has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Xander Denn was another key player, putting up four points.

Even though they lost, Yavneh Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chisholm Trail Academy only pulled down four offensive rebounds.

It was another big night for Max Castro, who shot 4-for-5 from deep and dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten boards for Chisholm Trail Academy. That makes it three consecutive games in which Castro has scored at least a third of Chisholm Trail Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Jadon Henderson, who went 6 for 13 en route to 15 points.

Yavneh Academy's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-7. As for Chisholm Trail Academy, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.

Yavneh Academy will take on Dallas International at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Yavneh Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season. As for Chisholm Trail Academy, they will challenge Lakehill Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chisholm Trail Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Lakehill Prep likes a good challenge.
