Recap: Coronado Mustangs vs. Tascosa Rebels

The Coronado Mustangs''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a rough 56-34 defeat at the hands of Tascosa. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaiah Vazquez, who rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 134 yards and a touchdown. Demarion Finch was another key contributor, rushing for 65 yards and two touchdowns.

Tascosa found their leader in underclassman Coltyn Fulton, who threw for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Tascosa also got a significant boost from Andrew Merrell, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 111 yards.

Coronado's defeat was their fifth straight at home , which bumped their record down to 2-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-2 Abilene and 8-2 Rider (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 70% over those games). As for Tascosa, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season.

Coronado does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Tascosa will head out on the road to face off against Del Valle at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Del Valle is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
