Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Northern's 11th in Last 14 Outings

Northern had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt La Plata on Wednesday. The Patriots blew past the Warriors 13-3. Considering the Patriots have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Northern got a great performance from Nick Barsczewski as he pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Tony Holson was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since April 2nd. Sean Zlotorzynski also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Northern was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Northern is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for La Plata, they moved to 11-6 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.
