Preview: St. Joseph-by-the-Sea Vikings vs. Fordham Prep Rams
St. Joseph-by-the-Sea has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Fordham Prep Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. St. Joseph-by-the-Sea will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 488th, while Fordham Prep is ranked 127th).
While St. Joseph-by-the-Sea couldn't quite beat Mount Pleasant back in December of 2023, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 31-point loss they were dealt back in December of 2023. St. Joseph-by-the-Sea fell just short of Mount Pleasant by a score of 45-43.
Meanwhile, Fordham Prep waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They strolled past Salesian with points to spare, taking the game 71-53.
Fordham Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Will Gregory out in front who scored 23 points. Ryan Jackson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten assists.
St. Joseph-by-the-Sea's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Fordham Prep, their win bumped their record up to 12-3.
St. Joseph-by-the-Sea came up short against Fordham Prep when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 55-51. Can St. Joseph-by-the-Sea avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
