Volleyball Recap: Center Point Pirates vs. Johnson City Eagles
Center Point was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Johnson City Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.
Center Point was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-21, 25-21.
Cobee Beckerson paced Center Point's offense, picking up nine kills. Beckerson got some help from Kaylani Ritter and her 15 assists. Beckerson also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Isela Martinez, each putting up three.
Center Point's defeat dropped their record down to 17-9. As for Johnson City, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-9 record this season.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Center Point is set to square off against their familiar foe Sonora at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Johnson City will challenge rival Harper at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
