Football Recap: Demetrius Arrington Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat William Monroe + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Turner Ashby, East Rockingham was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the William Monroe Dragons as they made off with a 42-20 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

East Rockingham's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Demetrius Arrington, who rushed for 286 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Arrington is now averaging an impressive 115.4 rushing yards per game. Aiden Raines was another key player, rushing for 119 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: East Rockingham was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 399 rushing yards. They are a perfect 6-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

East Rockingham didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Arrington and Alex Jerrells. Arrington also punched in three rushing touchdowns, which is notable because East Rockingham is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise.

East Rockingham's record is now 6-3. As for William Monroe, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, East Rockingham will welcome Broadway at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gobblers' defense has only allowed 10.6 points per game this season, so the Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for William Monroe, they will head out to square off against Harrisonburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dragons will be up against the Blue Streaks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42.38 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
