Softball Recap: Bishop Rosecrans Drops Season-High Score on Fairfield Christian Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Rosecrans). They put the hurt on the Fairfield Christian Academy Knights with a sharp 21-3 victory on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Dakota Householder and Emily Jenkins made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Householder pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Jenkins struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs but no hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. At bat, Householder got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Jenkins went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kerry Thompson, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Mallory Moody was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.

Bishop Rosecrans always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Bishop Rosecrans and bumps their season record up to 3-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Fairfield Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Rosecrans will challenge Monroe Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fairfield Christian Academy, they will head out to challenge Miller at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Knights are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
