Baseball Recap: Tulpehocken Takes a Loss

Tulpehocken extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 11-9 in the process. They came up short against the Annville-Cleona Dutchmen, falling 6-0. The Trojans were not able to make up for their loss to the Dutchmen from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

As for Annville-Cleona, their record is now 11-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Annville-Cleona's part, Colten Shaffer made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over 5.1 innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave Shaffer a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zac Frentz, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

Tulpehocken does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Annville-Cleona, they will face off against Middletown at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dutchmen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blue Raiders have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
