Baseball Game Preview: Barberton Magics vs. Aurora Greenmen

Barberton hasn't had much luck against Aurora recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Magics will be playing at home against the Greenmen at 5:00 p.m. Aurora took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Barberton, who comes in off a win.

On Saturday, Barberton earned a 5-1 victory over Ellet.

Jayden Patterson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, Michael Banks was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Reis Truax, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Aurora was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 12-1 to St. Vincent-St. Mary.

Aurora saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ben Lukasik, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Lukasik has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Barberton is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. As for Aurora, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.

Barberton was able to grind out a solid win over Aurora when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 5-2. Will the Magics repeat their success, or do the Greenmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
