Softball Recap: Menlo-Atherton Takes a Loss

If Menlo-Atherton was riding high fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Half Moon Bay two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bears came up short against the Notre Dame Tigers on Tuesday, falling 13-1.

Menlo-Atherton's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-4. As for Notre Dame, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-3-1.

Menlo-Atherton and Notre Dame should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Bears will square off against El Camino at 4:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (375 vs. 1015). Meanwhile, Notre Dame (ranked 149th) will meet Carlmont (ranked 395th) at 3:30 p.m. on the 28th. The timing is sure in the Tigers' favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Scots have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
