Basketball Recap: Mateo Castillo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Colleton Prep Academy over Jefferson Davis Academy

Colleton Prep Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They fell 59-52 to the Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders. The War Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raiders earlier this season, when they won 51-49.

Colleton Prep Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mateo Castillo, who posted 20 points. The game was his fourth in a row with at least 20 points. Charlie Walker was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Jefferson Davis Academy had a senior duo take command as Nasir Void almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds and Colson Loadholt had 20 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. The dominant performance also gave Void a new career-high in assists (five). Another player making a difference was Corbin Perry, who put up eight points.

Colleton Prep Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.

Colleton Prep Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 76-26 loss against Hilton Head Prep on the 4th. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, they have also already played their next matchup, a 52-42 win against Mead Hall Episcopal School on the 4th.
