Softball Recap: Delaware Valley Triumphs

Delaware Valley won the last time they faced Gill St. Bernard and things went their way on Thursday too. The Terriers walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Knights. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 7, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Grace Slack spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Riley Liskowacki was excellent, going 1-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Liskowacki, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Delaware Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Delaware Valley's record is now 11-4. As for Gill St. Bernard's, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Delaware Valley will face off against Mount St. Mary Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gill St. Bernard's, they will challenge West Morris Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
