Football Recap: Rio Hondo Prep's Rushing Dominance Continues

It's playoff time, and Rio Hondo Prep had no trouble coming through when it counted. They breezed by the Warren Bears to the tune of 43-16 on Friday. Considering the Kares have won 12 games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Noah Penunuri was his usual excellent self, rushing for 203 yards and three touchdowns. He has been hot, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last six times he's played. Caeden Holcomb was in the mix as well, providing Rio Hondo Prep with two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Rio Hondo Prep was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 316 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 166 rushing yards in 20 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Rio Hondo Prep's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Warren, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-8 record.

Rio Hondo Prep wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 28-14 victory against Poway on the 7th. Warren does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
