Baseball Recap: Elkhorn Comes Up Short

If Elkhorn was riding high fresh off their 8-1 takedown of Gross Catholic on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Antlers fell just short of the Nebraska City Pioneers by a score of 7-5 on Thursday. The Antlers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Tyrus Mack made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Logan Schulz, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

The defeat snapped Elkhorn's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-15 record. As for Nebraska City, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-11.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Elkhorn will take on rival Standing Bear at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Nebraska City is set to face off against their familiar foe Ralston at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
