Baseball Preview: Montgomery County Wildcats vs. North Callaway Thunderbirds

Montgomery County and North Callaway are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Montgomery County Wildcats will be playing at home against the North Callaway Thunderbirds at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Last Saturday, Montgomery County earned a 6-3 win over Russellville.

Meanwhile, North Callaway stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They put the hurt on Mark Twain with a sharp 14-1 victory.

Carter Moore made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned run or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Moore was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, North Callaway got a big performance out of Tucker Sheets, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Coltyn O'Neal, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Montgomery County has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for North Callaway, they pushed their record up to 10-4 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
