Baseball Recap: La Junta Takes a Loss

La Junta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Peak to Peak Pumas, falling 11-1. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 18-6 to the Pumas when the teams met back in April of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

La Junta saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Denahy, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Eli Stokes also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

La Junta's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Peak to Peak, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2.

Coming up, La Junta will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Lamar at 6:00 p.m. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunder have averaged an impressive 9.7 runs per game this season. As for Peak to Peak, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 defeat against Eaton on the 5th.
