Softball Recap: Lafayette Comes Up Short

Lafayette's last matchup with Loreauville could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Thursday. The Lions lost 11-5 to the Tigers. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Haylan Chapman and Kaylee Morgan stepped up to the plate in a big way. Chapman went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Morgan scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Morgan is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Heidi Ewing also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Lafayette's loss dropped their record down to 13-10-1. As for Loreauville, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 14-16.

Looking ahead, Lafayette is taking a road trip to take on Highland Baptist Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Loreauville, they will square off against North Vermilion on Saturday.
