Football Preview: Spring Lions vs. Summer Creek Bulldogs

Meanwhile, while Summer Creek put up plenty of points on Saturday, the same can't be said for Lamar. Summer Creek blew past Lamar 52-0 on the road. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Texans are ranked 63rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Blake Thomas had an outrageously good game as he threw for 268 yards and four touchdowns on only 19 passes, and also rushed for 54 yards on only seven carries. That's the most total yards he has posted since back in September of 2023. Jamicah Jones was Thomas' top target, picking up 115 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Summer Creek was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 557 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lamar only gained 138.
Summer Creek's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged three passes before it was all said and done. It was truly a group effort as Caleb White, Joseph Carroll, and Cameron Phillips picked up one apiece.
Spring's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Summer Creek, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
