Baseball Recap: Norwalk Extends Home Winning Streak to Ten

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Norwalk walked away with it. Everything went their way against the West Valley Mustangs on Thursday as they made off with an 8-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Lancers, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Daniel Albidrez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hector Alvarado, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

Norwalk was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Valley only posted a batting average of .154.

Norwalk's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-10. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for West Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-15 record this season.

Norwalk will square off against Western Christian at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting Lancers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Lancers surely won't give up without a fight. West Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
