Softball Recap: Harker Heights Victorious

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Harker Heights had no problem doing just that on Friday. They never let the Horn Jaguars get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Jaguars on Friday, they had to take a 18-3 defeat.

The result came thanks to Gabrielle Simmons's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Janelly Rios was excellent, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one double.

Harker Heights hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 16-3 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Harker Heights' win bumped their record up to 22-13. As for Horn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 23-11-1.

Harker Heights does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Horn, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 18-3 victory against the Knights on the 25th.
