Basketball Recap: West Ridge Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

West Ridge won the last time they faced Volunteer and things went their way on Saturday too. The West Ridge Wolves strolled past the Volunteer Falcons with points to spare, taking the game 63-49. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Falcons are ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elisabeth Byington, who went 7 of 9 en route to 16 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Byington has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Emilee Mailloux, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 15 points and three steals.

West Ridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.1 points per game. As for Volunteer, they now have a losing record at 12-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Ridge will head out to take on David Crockett at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in David Crockett's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine games. As for Volunteer, they are taking a road trip to square off against Unicoi County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
