Baseball Recap: Eastern Hancock Takes a Loss

Monroe Central hit Eastern Hancock with a four-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Royals took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Bears. The Royals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Eastern Hancock saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Jenkins, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Jenkins is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Eastern Hancock's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Monroe Central, they moved to 8-9 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern Hancock will take on Tri at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Royals are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Monroe Central, they will challenge Muncie Central at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bearcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.46 runs per game on average), something the Golden Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of.
