Basketball Recap: South Sevier Drops Highest Score of Season Against Water Canyon

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Sevier). They really took it to the Water Canyon Wildcats for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-41 win. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 21 points or more this season.

South Sevier was led to victory by Sydnee Patterson and Kinley Jenson. Patterson went 9 for 15 on her way to 21 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds, while Jenson went 6 of 14 en route to 17 points along with seven boards and five steals. With that strong performance, Patterson is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Caitlin Nielson, who posted nine points.

South Sevier smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Water Canyon's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Martha Jessop, who went 8 for 10 en route to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joann Barlow, who had eight points in addition to ten boards and five assists.

South Sevier's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 20.8 points. As for Water Canyon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

South Sevier didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 73-26 win against Millard on the 23rd. Water Canyon has also already played their next contest, a 52-26 defeat against Beaver on the 23rd.
