Baseball Recap: Gorham Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

After losing to Colebrook Academy the last time they met, Gorham decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Huskies won by a run and slipped past the Mohawks 6-5. Surprisingly, this marked the Huskies' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Jack Saladino made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Kasey Guilmette was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Michael Inkell was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Gorham is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.6 runs. As for Colebrook Academy, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-5 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gorham will head out to take on Littleton at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Colebrook Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Profile at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
