Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stoneman Douglas). They blew past the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks 16-2 on Thursday. The Eagles have beaten the Mavericks the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mavericks has come to flipping the script.

Breylynn Courtney looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Drew Freeman was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and six RBI. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Toback, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and one double.

Stoneman Douglas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.

Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.
