Soccer Game Preview: Staunton River vs. Liberty

The Staunton River Golden Eagles will face off against the Liberty Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Staunton River has given up an average of 4.5 goals per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Liberty will have to contend with a Staunton River squad hungry for a victory, something the team hasn't seen yet this season. Staunton River came up short against William Byrd on Monday, falling 6-2. While losing is never fun, Staunton River can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while William Byrd are ranked 107th).

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Liberty was forced to settle for a draw. Neither they nor Amherst County could gain the upper hand on Tuesday so the two teams had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

With that draw, Liberty's record moves to 5-7-1. As for Staunton River, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14-1.
