Baseball Recap: Marquette Takes a Loss

Marquette has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.56 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They lost 10-3 to the Negaunee Miners. The loss continues a trend for the Sentinels in their meetings with the Miners: they've now lost five in a row.

Easton Jezewski made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Gib Jezewski was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Marquette's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Negaunee, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Marquette will head out on the road to face off against Escanaba at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Sentinels are facing the Eskymos at the right time seeing as the Eskymos are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Negaunee, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Westwood at 4:00 p.m.
