Basketball Recap: IDEA Weslaco Pike Takes a Loss

IDEA Weslaco Pike was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Freer Buckaroos and fell 65-16. The game marked the Mavericks' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Freer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ayden Ramirez, who posted seven points in addition to six boards and five assists. Ramirez has been hot for a while, having also posted three or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Noah Flores, who went 6 of 7 en route to 12 points.

IDEA Weslaco Pike's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Freer, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

IDEA Weslaco Pike will take on IDEA Sports Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Freer, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 66-58 victory against Raymondville on the 7th.
