The Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes will face off against the Fayetteville Christian Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
On Thursday, Cape Fear Academy came up short against Coastal Christian and fell 3-1. While the Hurricanes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Centurions 25-18 in the first set.
Cape Fear Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-20, 29-27, 25-23.
Kate Hancock put forth a good effort for the losing side as she had 21 digs.
Meanwhile, Fayetteville Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Freedom Christian Academy, falling 3-0. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since September 19, 2023, but that streak is no more.
While Fayetteville Christian ultimately came up short, they really made Freedom Christian Academy work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-19, 25-22.
Cape Fear Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Fayetteville Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.
Cape Fear Academy skirted past Fayetteville Christian 3-2 in their previous meeting back in August of 2024. Do the Hurricanes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
