Baseball Recap: Archbishop McNicholas Takes a Loss

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Archbishop McNicholas nor Holy Name made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Rockets fell just short of the Green Wave by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rockets have suffered since April 19, 2024.

Evan Sandfoss was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, Archbishop McNicholas saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chad Dannemiller, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Archbishop McNicholas and nudges their season record down to 7-5. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Holy Name, they pushed their record up to 4-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Archbishop McNicholas will face off against Archbishop Alter at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Holy Name, they will take on La Salle at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last five games the Lancers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
