Basketball Recap: Hayden Mcdowell Key Part of Team Effort in Cardinals Win

Fans were treated to a Battle of the Cardinals on Tuesday. The Collinsville Cardinals snuck past the East Central Cardinals with a 40-34 win. The victory continues a trend for Collinsville in their matchups with East Central: they've now won four in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Collinsville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hayden Mcdowell, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 16 points. Those 16 points gave Mcdowell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anna Appelberg, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Collinsville's record now sits at 11-13. As for East Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Collinsville will head out to take on Guthrie at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Central, they are taking a road trip to square off against Bishop Kelley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
